Manicure or Enhancement - Your choice

Manicures
Manicures are a pampering process which will make your own nails clean and tidy in appearance. Over a period of time, they can improve the general appearance and condition of your nails and hands. You deserve to feel special and our manicure will make you feel that way while ensuring your own natural nails look and stay their very best. You may wish to choose a light gel overlay or nail polish to finish your perfect manicure.

This is an experience you do not want to miss.

Enhancements (Acrylics and Gels)
There are several different types of artificial nail enhancement products as well as application procedures. Our enhancements come with a free mini-manicure as well. Due to the uncertainty in compatibility with other salon materials, we prefer to add a nail enhancement to your natural nail

Tips and Wraps: Women of today are far too active for Tips. And Wraps are too bulky and unnatural looking. With these methods there is a strong possibility that nail biters and nail pickers will become even more driven to bite and pick. Instead, we offer you the choice of having us professionally manicure your own natural nail or applying an enhancement with acrylic or gels. Because “gel-resins” can become dry and cracked, we also do not use these products or methods of enhancement.

For an instant touch of glamour and the “ultimate” glamorous look, we recommend....

Acrylic Nails
Our Acrylic nails are artificial custom sculptured nails. This is the most commonly applied enhancement/traditional acrylic, which is a two-part system of liquid (monomer) and powder (polymer). Only the skilled sculpture professional can give this treatment the full credit it deserves. This type of product can be applied with one color of acrylic, pink and white acrylic for a Permanent French look, or can be applied with colored acrylic, glitter acrylic or in any combination. (Glitters and colour enhancements require advanced notice and extra time). Nail-fills on the growth area of your enhancement for permanent french manicure are a little more time consuming during the rebalance maintenance session which should happen at least every other visit.

Advantages of Acrylic Nails:

  • 1) Much stronger than "any other" nail enhancement system
  • 2) Sculptured to each individual nail for a natural look and feel
  • 3) Edges are bevelled to further enhance the natural look and feel
  • 4) Durable if maintained regularly but can be professionally soaked off if desired.
  • 5) Available in fashion colours, natural as well as French Manicure look
  • 6) Consistant glamour/high fashion appearance from day one
  • 7) Can be polished or worn natural

Curing of the two part acrylic nail enhancement takes place over a period of 24 to 36 hours but your nails are strong enough for use immediately after you leave the salon. There may be a feeling of tightening during that period of time. This is caused by shrinkage and is perfectly normal.

Acrylic nails are generally stronger than their gel counterpart and can often be applied a little lengthier on your first application.

At
PERFECT NAILS, we sculpture your nail to custom fit your own nail shape and we will discuss with you the length best suited to your hand shape, your activity level and the length of your natural nail bed. As a rule of thumb, the free edge (nail that extends past where it is attached to your skin) should NEVER be more than the length of the nail plate (part of the nail that is attached to your skin). A shorter length is more suitable for those who use their hands a lot for heavy work, lifting, etc.

For a more natural look without forfeiting glamour, we recommend....

Gel Nails
Gel acrylic is a one-part system (no powder) consisting of the application of a thick viscosity gel acrylic with the end goal of it being a strengthener for your own nail. The gel is also sculptured to your individual nail shape with care given to the beauty of each “individual” finger. Gel is normally “cured” under a UV light and is sealed by this process. Do not confuse gel with traditional acrylic. Even though the two products are actually acrylic, they apply and wear differently. Gel nails do not yellow or discolor and are more flexible but often not as sturdy as the two part acrylic enhancement.

Gel applied over acrylic to seal the surface does not make your nails "Gel Nails" but it does give a stunning effect. Gel nails are actually acrylic nails; they are made from the same class of "acrylates", but that is where the similarity ends. They have different molecular structures, appearance, application procedures and different curing methods as well as different durability.

Gell nails are also applied, and worn shorter from the beginning. Gel nails are usually more natural and are the most gentle on your own nails. After a time, when your own nail has grown out under the free edge, you will likely consider gel nails as just an overlay on your own nails to strengthen them.

Gel nails should never be worn as long as acrylics. They often take longer to fill-in or rebalance. The smile line of your french manicure look will need to be moved/rebalanced as your nail plate grows. This usually takes longer as with french manicures for the two step acrylic nails. However, you may also wear nail polish if you prefer.

Advantages of Gels are:

  • 1) Odorless
  • 2) Natural Feeling
  • 3) Thin
  • 4) Flexible
  • 5) Crystal Clear
  • 6) Light Weight
  • 7) Natural looking
  • 8) Resist lifting!

We also use Gels as an overlay to your natural nail with no extension. This would go well with a natural manicure.

Both types of nails can be polished and regular polish remover is used. However, most woman prefer to wear their Gel nails polish free with a natural french manicure look.

Do enhancements damage your natural nail? An emphatic NO.
Professionally applied nail enhancements with top quality materials will not harm your natural nails. Improper removal can. Wearing your enhancement too long for your nail bed can. Using your nails as tools can also. However, proper wearing of your enhancement does no harm to your natural nail. We at PERFECT NAILS use only material recommended by Creative Nail Design (CND), products tested to be gentle to natural nails, hypo allergenic and yet beautiful, strong and long lasting.
